New Milford, CT

School Report Hereo

New Milfordis a delightful town rich in New England charm, pleasant neighborhoods and an active community spirit. It is the largest town by area in Connecticut. Urban centers like Danbury and Waterbury are just short distance away.

Many of the open meadows that shaped the town's agricultural heritage remain. Homes are set on spacious lots, and surrounded by natural beauty. Architectural styles and sizes include traditional single-family homes, clean-lined contemporaries, historic structures and condominium complexes. Summer cottages dot the shores of Candlewood Lake. A traditional town green features gracious period homes, now used as offices. Boutiques, antiques shops and fine restaurants are located downtown, and Route 7 has many national retailers.

New Milford has four tiers of public schools, including a modern high school with extensive athletic facilities. The private Canterbury School offers cultural and athletic events for the community to enjoy.

Locals celebrate the arts and history of town at a variety of theaters, museums and galleries. Village Fair Days, an annual festival with music, food and traditional crafts, attracts crowds from across the region, and holiday festivities bring the whole town together for a carol sing at the Bandstand on the Green. Nature lovers delight in the vast areas of unspoiled land for hiking, picnicking and wildlife study at Elliot Pratt Nature Center.

The parks and recreation department sponsors organized team sports, supervised play, swimming and ice skating. Candlewood Lake offers a beautiful beach and a variety of water sports.

Brookfield Goes Green at Brookfield Block Party

Brookfield Goes Green at Brookfield Block Party

BIOS Green Healthy Sustainable: Health Care real estate investment trusts

"BIOS IS LIFE"

MIND, BODY, SPIRIT, EARTH

We are all connected

Our goal: To create an international organization that is a model of social responsibility,

making your life green, healthy and sustainable.

Steve Schappert of Bios Painting and Maintenance invites you to the

BROOKFIELD BLOCK PARTY

"BROOKFIELD GOES GREEN"

September 11-13

ONE TOWN, ONE PARTY, ONE GOAL...UNITED WE STAND!

The Goal:  Promote the town of Brookfield with a unified marketing effort, while educating the public about healthy, energy efficient living. It is possible to help people, save the planet and boost the economy. You can do well by doing good!

Here it is in a nut shell: If every business in town rallies under one banner, "THE BROOKFIELD BLOCK PARTY" We show the world how great the town is. Everyone put your best foot forward and provide an extra reason for people to come and do business with you. Face painting here, popcorn there, live music on every corner. One town, one party, one goal... we all work together. Everyone in town that currently advertises on the radio, mention the Brookfield Block Party, TV, newspaper, Internet, direct mail whatever you do, mention the Brookfield Block party. I will have event signs made and approved by the zoning board. Special Event Signs are allowed to be up for 30 days before the event. As interest builds I MAY provide booth space under a tent or group of tents I operated this event 3 years in a row from 94'-96'

Keep it simple, invite your current clients and people you want to add to your list of friends, customers and associates. The compounded effect of every business in town running a special promotion will be substantial.  Brookfield does not have a town green, lets embrace who we are. If one business in a strip mall provides hot dogs another face painting, another popcorn. We will give people a reason to stop in and say hello while learning about our businesses.  Call one of our local bands and offer some live music...do one thing!

Some of the events that we created the last 3 times were:
Live music, live radio telecast, DJ, hot air balloon, Chile contest, Fire truck display, custom/classic car show, talent shows, dance and martial arts displays, face painting, free balloons, raffles, sail boat race, inflatable moon bounce, health & wellness festival, Sidewalk Sales. The Sky's the limit let your imagination run wild!
XBOX  / WII TOURNAMENTS, FRISBEE TOURNAMENTS, GOLF OUTING, KARAOKE.
LET'S SHOW THE WORLD WHY WE LOVE BROOKFIELD

Twitter Hints

Twitter Hints

  • Stay Active. Send tweets regularly - maybe once a day or a few times per week. Frequent posts also increase the likelihood that someone new will find you and become a follower.
  • Be Searchable. When you place a hash-tag (#) in front of key words (for example, #FHA), your message can be found through Twitter's public search tool (http://search.twitter.com). Otherwise, only your followers will see your updates.
  • Say something worthwhile. Do your followers really need to know that you just fed your cat? Focus on sharing information that will be valuable to people who follow you.
  • Shrink the link. In your tweets, you can and should link to articles and Web sites your followers would enjoy. To keep Web site addresses from eating up your 140 characters, shorten the URL on free sites such as Budurl (www. budurl.com) or TinyURL (www.tinyurl.com).
  • Interact. Read what your followers are tweeting about and comment on their posts. It shows you're involved and will help get your name out.
  • Try TweetDeck. This free application (http://tweetdeck.com) provides an easy-to-use interface for managing your twitter account on your mobile phone or desktop.
  • Share the news. To send someone else's tweet to your followers, place an RT in front of the message to indicate it's a "retweet."
